Airtel Nigeria Temporarily Suspends Airtime and Data Credit Services

Airtel Nigeria has temporarily suspended its airtime and data credit services, while assuring customers that the move will not disrupt overall service delivery across the country.

The telecom operator said the suspension is part of an operational adjustment affecting credit-based purchasing options, but maintained that direct purchases of airtime and data bundles remain fully functional.

Customers will still be able to buy services through standard channels, including mobile banking platforms, USSD codes, and authorised vendors, the company said.

Airtel Nigeria emphasised that core network services and connectivity remain unaffected nationwide, adding that the temporary measure is aimed at improving system efficiency and service reliability.

The development comes amid increasing reliance on digital payment systems in Nigeria’s telecom sector, where operators continue to refine service delivery models in response to changing consumer behaviour.
