Mane Sends Senegal to AFCON Final as Egypt Fall Short Again

Sadio Mané scored the decisive goal as Senegal defeated Egypt to book a place in the final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, extending Mohamed Salah’s wait for a first continental title.

Mané struck in the second half to settle a tightly contested semi-final, as the defending champions edged past an Egyptian side led by Salah, who was closely marked throughout the match.

Senegal dominated long spells of possession and created the clearer chances, eventually breaking through a resilient Egypt defence to secure victory and a spot in the final.

For Egypt, the defeat marked another painful setback in their quest to reclaim the AFCON crown. Salah, one of Africa’s most decorated club players, has now missed another opportunity to lift the continent’s biggest international prize.

Senegal will face the winner of the other semi-final in the final, as they seek to retain their AFCON title and further cement their status as one of Africa’s dominant football forces.
