More Than 25 Civilians Reportedly Killed in Sudan RSF Attack
More than 25 civilians have reportedly been killed in an attack attributed to Sudan’s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the Umm Badr area of North Kordofan, according to the Sudan Doctors Network.

The medical group said on Saturday that footage circulating online appeared to show RSF fighters executing civilians in the area. It alleged that the victims had been accused of supporting the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), and said there were indications that the killings may have been driven by ethnic considerations.
The Sudan Doctors Network described the reported killings as a serious violation of international humanitarian law and called on the United Nations and human-rights organisations to conduct an independent investigation and establish responsibility.
The RSF had not immediately responded to the allegations. The group has generally denied deliberately targeting civilians, while Sudanese authorities and international rights organisations have accused its forces of abuses against civilians during the war.
The reported killings come as fighting intensifies across North Kordofan, a strategically important region linking central Sudan with areas further west toward Darfur. The Sudanese army has recently captured several areas from the RSF, including the strategic town of Al-Mazroub, increasing pressure on RSF positions and supply routes.
Umm Badr has itself experienced recent violence. On September 21, an RSF attack on a gold market there reportedly killed five civilians and wounded 27, according to local civil-society groups.
Sudan has been at war since April 2023, when fighting erupted between the army and RSF. The conflict has killed tens of thousands and displaced millions, with Kordofan emerging as one of its major current battlefronts.
