Ronaldo Faces Disciplinary Action After Portugal Camp Exit
Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo has been provisionally suspended by the Portuguese Football Federation as it investigates his departure from the national team’s training camp in September. The federation’s Disciplinary Council initiated proceedings on October 9 following reports submitted two days earlier, with the case referred to its Disciplinary Investigation Commission on Saturday, October 10, for urgent consideration.

Ronaldo reportedly left the team’s camp in Copenhagen on September 30 following a disagreement with head coach Jorge Jesus over his role in the squad. The incident prompted questions about his conduct within the national team, leading to disciplinary action by the federation. However, the suspension is provisional, and the authorities have yet to announce the final penalty he may face.
The 41-year-old forward has since acknowledged responsibility for his departure and apologised to his teammates, indicating that he was prepared to accept the consequences of his actions. He has also ruled out retiring from international football and expressed his willingness to return to the national team after the disciplinary process is concluded.
The federation has classified the investigation as urgent but said details would remain confidential until the proceedings are completed. The outcome will determine the next steps for Ronaldo, whose future involvement with Portugal remains subject to the ongoing disciplinary process.
