Amusan Wins Bronze as Commonwealth Title Run Ends
Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan finished third in the women’s 100m hurdles at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, bringing an end to her reign as champion in the event. The race was won by Devynne Charlton of The Bahamas, who delivered a standout performance to take gold in 12.33 seconds, while Jamaica’s Megan Simmonds secured silver with a time of 12.41 seconds. Amusan crossed the line in 12.60 seconds, earning a bronze medal.
Despite entering the final as the favourite following a strong showing in the semifinals and an impressive season overall, Amusan’s chances were affected by a slow start. She struggled to match the pace early in the race but made a late push to secure a place on the podium. The result marks her third consecutive medal in the event at the Commonwealth Games, although it is her first time not finishing in the top position since her victories in previous editions.
The bronze medal represents one of Nigeria’s athletics medals at the Games, contributing to the country’s overall tally, which includes multiple podium finishes across events.
