East Africa to Host 2027 AFCON as CAF Fixes June–July Tournament Window
The Confederation of African Football has scheduled the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) to take place between June and July, confirming an East African co-hosting arrangement involving Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.

The decision marks a historic first, as the tournament will be jointly hosted by three countries from the region, signaling CAF’s push to expand infrastructure development and regional collaboration across African football.
CAF officials say the June–July calendar aligns the tournament with global football schedules, reducing clashes with major European leagues and ensuring the availability of top African players based abroad.
The 2027 edition will also be the first AFCON staged in East Africa in decades, raising expectations for major upgrades in stadiums, transport systems, and hospitality sectors across the three host nations.
The announcement comes as CAF continues broader reforms aimed at enhancing the global competitiveness and commercial appeal of African football’s flagship tournament.
