Lafarge Africa Plc Proposes Rebrand to HBM Nigeria

Lafarge Africa Plc has not yet officially changed its name, but has proposed a rebranding to “HBM Nigeria Plc,” subject to shareholder approval and regulatory clearance.

Lafarge Africa Plc Proposes Rebrand to HBM Nigeria

The cement manufacturer disclosed in filings ahead of its 67th Annual General Meeting that shareholders will vote on a special resolution to adopt the new name, marking a significant corporate transition.

The proposed rebrand is part of a broader restructuring effort following a change in ownership structure, with China-based Huaxin Cement Co. now holding a controlling stake in the company.

If approved, the name change will require amendments to the company’s constitutional documents and formal registration with regulators before it takes full effect.

For Nigeria’s construction and industrial sector, the move signals a major shift in corporate identity for one of the country’s most recognizable cement brands, and reflects increasing foreign investment influence in key African industries.
