President Tinubu Signals Firm Stance Ahead of 2027 Election
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has pushed back against political pressure ahead of the 2027 elections, declaring that he will not be intimidated by opposition forces as his administration continues to pursue its agenda.

Speaking at the State House in Abuja, Tinubu dismissed attempts by political rivals to challenge his leadership, insisting he remains committed to his reforms and governance priorities despite mounting criticism. He stated that no amount of pressure would make him abandon what he described as a necessary “fight” to stabilise and reposition the country.
“They want to scare me off? It’s a lie… I won’t run away from this fight,” Tinubu said, reaffirming his resolve to stay the course amid growing political tensions ahead of the next general election.
His remarks come as political activities intensify ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections, scheduled for January, where he is widely expected to seek a second term under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The comments also reflect rising friction between the ruling party and opposition figures, who have criticised Tinubu’s economic reforms and governance record. Analysts say the political landscape is becoming increasingly competitive, with opposition groups attempting to form alliances to challenge the incumbent administration.
Tinubu, however, maintains that his administration’s policies are necessary to address long-standing structural issues in Africa’s largest economy, even as Nigerians grapple with the impact of reforms such as subsidy removal and currency adjustments.
The President’s stance signals an early sharpening of the 2027 political contest, with both the ruling party and opposition blocs already positioning for what is expected to be a highly contested election.
