Protest Ongoing in Abuja as Hundreds Demand Action on Hardship, Insecurity
Hundreds of protesters are currently on the streets of Abuja’s Central Business District, demanding urgent government action over rising hunger, economic hardship, and worsening insecurity.
The demonstration, organised by the Take-It-Back Movement, is part of a nationwide protest drawing attention to the country’s deepening cost-of-living crisis. The group had earlier notified the Nigerian Police, requesting protection and ensuring a peaceful assembly.
Demonstrators are moving through key areas of the Central Business District, heading toward Eagle Square and the Federal Secretariat Complex. Many are chanting, carrying placards, and calling on the government to respond to what they describe as unbearable living conditions.
Protesters are demanding immediate measures to address soaring inflation, food shortages, and the broader economic strain affecting citizens. They are also calling for improved security across the country, particularly for vulnerable communities facing persistent threats.
Security personnel have been deployed to strategic locations to monitor the situation and maintain order as the protest continues.
