Shakira, Burna Boy Unveil ‘Dai Dai’ as Official 2026 World Cup Anthem
Global music stars Shakira and Burna Boy have released “Dai Dai”, the official anthem for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, marking a major international collaboration.

The track, launched on Friday through Sony Music Latin in partnership with FIFA, blends Shakira’s Latin pop and reggaetón style with Burna Boy’s signature Afrobeats sound, delivering an energetic theme centred on unity, resilience, and the shared love of football.
Featuring a multilingual chorus with phrases drawn from different languages, the song reflects the global nature of the tournament, while its lyrics emphasise courage, identity, and strength.
Beyond its musical impact, the anthem is also tied to a charitable initiative. FIFA announced that proceeds from the song will support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which aims to raise $100 million to expand access to education and football opportunities for children worldwide. Shakira has pledged her full share of the royalties, while Sony Music Latin will match the first $250,000 generated.
For Burna Boy, the collaboration represents another significant step on the global stage, further highlighting the growing influence of Afrobeats in international music and sports events. His involvement follows a trend of Nigerian artistes gaining prominence in global football entertainment, including Davido’s appearance on the 2022 World Cup soundtrack.
Shakira, known for her long-standing association with FIFA, adds this to her list of World Cup hits, including Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) and La La La (Brazil 2014).
FIFA has also announced that Shakira will perform the anthem during the first-ever halftime show at a World Cup final, scheduled for July 19, 2026, at MetLife Stadium. The event will also feature performances by Madonna and BTS, with Coldplay’s Chris Martin serving as curator.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, and will be the first edition to feature 48 teams.
