31 Rescued Oyo Pupils Discharged, Eight Remain Under Medical Care
The Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Teaching Hospital in Ogbomoso has discharged 31 of the 39 pupils rescued from abduction in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State after certifying them medically fit.

The hospital’s Chief Medical Director, Olawale Olakulehin, confirmed that the children who were discharged have been reunited with their families, while eight others are still receiving treatment and observation to ensure full recovery.
According to hospital authorities, all the rescued pupils were admitted following their release from captivity, with medical teams closely monitoring both their physical and psychological conditions. The hospital stated that the remaining children would continue to receive care until they are cleared to return home.
Officials described the discharge as a significant step in the rehabilitation process, assuring parents and the public that the welfare of the children remains a priority.
The development follows the recent rescue of the abducted pupils and their teachers, who were taken from schools in the area. Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde had earlier received the victims, commending security agencies for their efforts in securing their release.
The governor also called for a broader investigation into the incident to establish the full circumstances surrounding the abduction, though the proposal has drawn differing reactions from federal authorities.
Meanwhile, medical personnel say continued monitoring and support will be provided to ensure the full recovery of all affected victims.
