Dozens Feared Dead After Migrant Boat Capsizes Off Libya
Dozens of migrants are feared to have died after a vessel carrying around 60 people overturned in the Mediterranean Sea near Libya’s eastern coastline.

According to security officials, 10 individuals were rescued following the incident, which occurred near El-Bardaa Island, west of Tobruk. The passengers were said to include women and children from several sub-Saharan African countries.
Initial reports indicate the boat departed earlier in the day before capsizing under unclear circumstances. Search efforts are ongoing as authorities try to determine the full extent of the casualties.
In a separate development, rescue teams in the same region recovered four bodies and saved 24 migrants from a drifting boat that had spent an extended period at sea. Survivors were taken to medical facilities for treatment after enduring severe conditions.
Libya continues to serve as a major transit point for migrants attempting to reach Europe, with many undertaking hazardous journeys across the Mediterranean in overcrowded vessels.
The latest incident shows the persistent risks associated with irregular migration routes in the region.
