President Tinubu Urges Citizens to Pray for Bandits to “Rethink” as Security Concerns Persist
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged Nigerians to pray for bandits and terrorists to reconsider their actions, according to verified reports from his recent Eid-el-Kabir message.

In the address, the president acknowledged ongoing attacks across parts of the country and called for both spiritual reflection and national unity. He said Nigerians should pray that “those who commit crimes among us may rethink and abandon their evil ways or face the full weight of the law.”
Tinubu also reassured citizens that despite continued violence, they have not been abandoned, stressing that his administration remains committed to defeating insecurity. He noted that security agencies are actively working to counter threats, even as “terrorists and bandits still attack some communities.”
The remarks come amid persistent security challenges in Nigeria, including attacks, kidnappings, and insurgency-related violence in several regions. Analysts say the president’s statement reflects a dual approach—combining military action with moral and societal appeals aimed at deradicalisation.
While some Nigerians have welcomed the call for prayer as part of a broader cultural and religious response to insecurity, others continue to demand stronger enforcement and faster results from security operations.
The statement underscores the ongoing pressure on the federal government to deliver lasting solutions as insecurity continues to affect livelihoods, displacement, and public confidence across the country.
