BREAKING: 32 Aboard Nigerian Air Force Aircraft That Crashed in Ondo

The Federal Government has confirmed that 32 people were aboard a Nigerian Air Force aircraft that crashed in Igbokoda, Ondo State, on Monday.

Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo said preliminary information indicated that the aircraft, with tail number NGR 931, had 25 passengers and seven crew members on board.

According to the minister, air traffic controllers lost contact with the aircraft at about 9:13 a.m. while it was travelling from Benin to Lagos. The aircraft was later confirmed to have crashed near the Naval Base in Igbokoda, with its wreckage subsequently located.

The Nigerian Air Force has confirmed that the aircraft belonged to it and said it was on a routine mission. Rescue operations are currently underway at the crash site.

The condition of those on board and the number of possible casualties have not yet been officially confirmed.

Authorities are expected to provide further information as search-and-rescue operations continue.
