President Tinubu Orders Probe Into Ondo NAF Jet Crash, Mourns Personnel
President Bola Tinubu has ordered a thorough investigation into Monday’s crash of a Nigerian Air Force ATR-42 aircraft near a naval base in Igbokoda, Ondo State.

The aircraft, identified as NGR 931, was on a routine mission from Benin to Lagos when it crashed. Preliminary information from the Aviation Ministry indicated that 25 passengers and seven crew members were on board.
In a statement, Tinubu expressed condolences to the families of those aboard, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, and the wider Nigerian Air Force. He described the incident as a “painful moment” for the Armed Forces and prayed for the repose of the victims.
The President directed the Nigerian Air Force to immediately investigate the cause of the crash and prevent future occurrences. He also commended the Air Force, first responders and the Ondo State Government for their response at the crash site.
The Nigerian Air Force said the aircraft was on a routine mission and that search-and-rescue operations were activated after the crash. The wreckage was located near the naval base, while authorities continue to establish the full circumstances surrounding the accident.
