BREAKING:Nigeria Isolates Two Suspected Ebola Cases in North-East as Tests Get Under Way
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) says two suspected cases of Ebola have been identified in the country’s North-East region, with both individuals isolated while contact tracing and laboratory testing continue.

The NCDC announced the cases on Saturday and stressed that they remain unconfirmed, urging the public to maintain strict hand hygiene and sanitation. The agency did not name the location of the cases or say whether they are connected to Nigeria’s confirmed patient. A suspected case is not a confirmed one, and laboratory results will determine the outcome.
The alert comes as Nigeria responds to its first confirmed Ebola infection in over a decade. The confirmed patient is a 42-year-old woman who returned from Uganda through Addis Ababa on 3 October and arrived in Abuja on an international flight. A suspected case in Rivers State has since tested negative. The government says there is no evidence of community transmission and that high-risk contacts have been quarantined.
The NCDC has identified about 12 laboratories with the capacity to test for Ebola.
