Building Collapse Injures 16 in Kano Community

At least 16 people have been injured following the collapse of a residential building in Kano State, northern Nigeria. The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday in the Dandishe area of Fagge Local Government Area, raising fresh concerns about structural safety in densely populated neighbourhoods.

Emergency responders from the Kano State Fire Service arrived at the scene shortly after receiving a distress alert in the early morning. On arrival, they discovered that the structure, a modest residential building, had completely caved in, trapping occupants beneath the debris.

Rescue operations led to the evacuation of multiple victims, including several children, who were found with varying degrees of injuries. While most were conscious and responsive, a few were reportedly pulled out in critical condition and required urgent medical attention. All victims were subsequently handed over to relatives and taken for treatment.

Authorities have commenced an investigation to determine the cause of the collapse. Officials also advised residents to be cautious, particularly during the rainy season, as weakened structures are more vulnerable to failure under such conditions.
