Court Orders Remand of Sowore at Kuje Correctional Centre Over Bail Dispute
A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has directed that Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), be held at the Kuje Correctional Centre.

The order was issued on Monday by Justice Mohammed Umar, who ruled that Sowore should remain in custody while the court considers a motion seeking suspension of an earlier decision that revoked his bail and issued a bench warrant for his arrest.
The judge also rejected an application by Sowore requesting that he withdraw from the case over claims of bias.
The matter has been adjourned to June 24 for the hearing of the application seeking a stay of execution on the bail revocation.
According to court records, the request for the stay was filed by Sowore’s newly appointed counsel, Senior Advocate of Nigeria Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika.
It will be recalled that the court had earlier revoked Sowore’s bail on June 16 after he failed to appear for his trial. Following that development, a bench warrant was issued for his arrest based on an oral application by counsel to the Department of State Services (DSS), Akinkolu Kehinde (SAN).
Sowore is being prosecuted by the DSS over allegations that he made defamatory remarks against President Bola Tinubu, allegedly describing him as a criminal in social media posts shared on X and Facebook.
The case continues as legal proceedings progress.
