The restriction had initially been set for 16 hours daily before being extended for an additional day as authorities assessed the security situation in the affected communities.

Announcing the development, the state’s Commissioner for Information said residents are now free to resume their normal activities. The government also acknowledged the patience and cooperation of the people during the period of restriction.

Officials stated that security agencies are continuing to monitor developments and are working to resolve issues arising from the abduction incident.

The curfew was introduced after armed attackers invaded several schools in Oriire, abducting dozens of pupils and teachers. Subsequent reports indicated that one of the victims, a teacher, was killed during the ordeal.

The affected local government areas included Oriire, Orelope, Irepo, Saki West, Saki East, Atisbo, Itesiwaju, Iseyin, Olorunsogo, and Atiba.

The state government reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property while ensuring that normalcy is fully restored across the impacted areas.
