The incident occurred following a distress alert received by troops while on routine patrol around the Tor Donga Yam Market. On arrival at the scene, security personnel engaged the attackers in a confrontation that resulted in the neutralisation of two individuals.

Weapons and other items were recovered from the suspects, including a rifle, ammunition, and personal belongings, suggesting preparations for a planned assault.

Authorities stated that the swift response by security forces prevented possible casualties and ensured that trading activities in the area continued without interruption.

The Force Commander of Operation Whirl Stroke commended the troops for their prompt and coordinated action, noting that their intervention helped avert significant loss of lives and disruption of economic activities.

He also acknowledged the support of the Benue State Civil Protection Guard and members of the public, emphasising the importance of timely information and collaboration in addressing security challenges.
