Legislator Proposes Immigration Ban on Three African Countries
A United States lawmaker has indicated plans to introduce legislation that would restrict immigration from three African nations over concerns related to security and political instability.

The proposed bill, put forward by a Republican representative from South Carolina, identifies Somalia, Sudan, and South Sudan as countries of concern. The plan was disclosed in a statement released on June 25 through the lawmaker’s official platform.
According to the proposal, the measure is intended to prioritise the safety of American citizens by limiting entry from countries facing significant internal challenges. The lawmaker argued that immigration policies should reflect national security considerations.
She further maintained that the targeted nations are experiencing ongoing instability, which could present broader challenges for integration and public safety.
The proposal also referenced developments in parts of Europe, suggesting that the United States should take a cautious approach to avoid similar outcomes linked to immigration pressures.
The planned legislation is consistent with stricter immigration policies previously associated with former President Donald Trump, including travel restrictions affecting certain countries.
The bill has not yet been formally introduced for debate in the United States Congress.
