Kebbi Cyclist’s Guinness World Record Earns ₦1m Government Support
Bello Muhammad, a young cyclist from Kebbi State, has received international recognition from Guinness World Records for riding the tallest bicycle unsupported, measuring 2.9 metres (9 feet 5 inches).

The achievement has drawn attention to his abilities beyond cycling, with the Equity Cyclists Association saying he also has interests in electronics, technology and design.
Presenting the record certificate to the Kebbi State Government, the association’s patron, Abubakar Bagudu Dallatun Kalgo, said media exposure helped bring Muhammad’s feat to international attention.
Governor Nasir Idris, represented by the Head of Service, Mallami Shekare, congratulated the cyclist and described his accomplishment as an example of the creativity and determination of young people in the state.
As part of its response, the state government donated ₦1 million to the Equity Cyclists Association to support its work in identifying and developing young talent.
The Commissioner for Information and Culture, Yakubu Ahmed-BK, and officials from the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development also commended the cyclist and the association for promoting youth participation in sports and innovation.
The recognition highlights the potential of young Nigerians to gain international attention through unconventional skills, while renewed support for talent-development organisations could create more opportunities for others to follow similar paths.
