Oyo Government Considers Negotiation Options to Secure Release of Abducted Pupils, Students and Teachers
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has said the state government may consider the demands of kidnappers involved in the abduction of pupils, students, and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area as part of efforts to secure their safe release.

Makinde stated this while addressing the situation at his private residence in Ibadan, noting that while the government is exploring all available options, it remains committed to ensuring that criminal activities are not encouraged or normalised.
The attack, which occurred recently in Oriire Local Government Area, led to the abduction of multiple schoolchildren and teachers, with reports indicating that one teacher was killed during the incident.
According to the governor, security agencies have intensified rescue operations, describing the situation as fluid and requiring careful coordination.
He disclosed that a central operations room has been established at the Oyo State Police Command headquarters to oversee and streamline rescue efforts, as well as ensure accurate communication with the public.
Makinde also noted that additional security measures are being deployed, including surveillance aircraft acquired by the state government, which have arrived in the country and are currently undergoing assembly in Lagos.
He assured residents that the government is working closely with security agencies to ensure the safe return of all abducted victims, while maintaining sustained pressure on criminal elements operating within the state.
