Presidential Aspirant Urges Federal Government to Step Up Security After 32 Killed in Sokoto
A former vice-president and presidential aspirant, Atiku Abubakar, has called on the Federal Government to intensify security operations following the reported killing of 32 residents in Ungushi community, Kebbe Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

The call came amid renewed concerns over attacks on vulnerable communities across the country. Atiku expressed sympathy to the families of the victims and the people of Sokoto State, while stressing the need for authorities to adopt a more proactive strategy to prevent further loss of lives.
He urged the government to strengthen intelligence gathering, improve security around communities considered vulnerable and ensure that those behind the killings are arrested and prosecuted. He said residents should not be left exposed to repeated attacks or forced to live under constant fear.
The presidential aspirant also called for urgent security intervention in Sokoto and other areas facing similar threats, urging the government to prioritise prevention rather than wait for attacks before responding. He maintained that protecting lives and property should remain at the centre of the government’s security responsibilities.
