Trump Vows Response After Iran Downs U.S. Helicopter

U.S. President Donald Trump has vowed to respond after accusing Iran of shooting down a U.S. Army Apache helicopter near the Strait of Hormuz, escalating already tense relations between the two countries.

Trump Vows Response After Iran Downs U.S. Helicopter

The helicopter went down during operations in the Gulf region, with U.S. officials initially blaming Iranian forces for the incident.

Both crew members were successfully rescued in a coordinated operation involving U.S. military assets, including an advanced unmanned sea drone.

President Trump said the United States “must respond,” signaling possible military retaliation, although officials described subsequent strikes as targeted and proportional rather than a move toward full-scale war.

However, some U.S. military accounts suggest the crash may have involved a collision with an Iranian drone, leaving uncertainty over whether the helicopter was directly shot down.

The incident has heightened fears of renewed conflict in the region, with both sides exchanging warnings and limited strikes despite ongoing diplomatic efforts to prevent a wider war.
