UK Calls for Global Action to Stop Arms Flow Into Sudan at Berlin Conference

The United Kingdom has urged an intensified international effort to halt the flow of weapons into Sudan, warning that continued arms supplies are fuelling the country’s escalating conflict and worsening its humanitarian crisis.

UK Calls for Global Action to Stop Arms Flow Into Sudan at Berlin Conference

Speaking on the sidelines of a Berlin conference on Sudan, British officials said the international community must act more decisively to cut off military support reaching the warring parties and push for an immediate ceasefire.

The appeal comes amid a prolonged conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces, which has triggered widespread displacement, food insecurity, and civilian casualties across multiple regions of the country.

UK officials said stopping the flow of weapons is critical to reducing violence and creating conditions for humanitarian aid delivery and political negotiations to resume.

The Berlin conference brought together international partners to discuss coordinated responses to the crisis, including increased humanitarian funding and mechanisms to improve civilian protection.

Analysts say growing pressure from Western governments reflects mounting concern that external arms supplies are prolonging the war and deepening instability in the Horn of Africa and wider Sahel region.
