Afrobeats Star Burna Boy Becomes First Nigerian Artist to Surpass 4 Billion YouTube Views

Nigerian Afrobeats star Burna Boy has become the first Nigerian artist to surpass four billion total views on YouTube, adding another major digital milestone to his growing list of records.

Afrobeats Star Burna Boy Becomes First Nigerian Artist to Surpass 4 Billion YouTube Views

The Grammy-winning singer, whose real name is Damini Ogulu, crossed the landmark with more than 4.02 billion views on his official YouTube channel, which has more than 7.2 million subscribers. The figure combines views from his music videos and other content published on the platform.

Some of Burna Boy’s most-watched videos include global hits such as “On The Low,” “Ye,” “Last Last” and “For My Hand,” which have collectively helped drive the growth of his digital audience around the world.

The achievement builds on another YouTube record set by the singer in 2021, when he became the first Nigerian artist to surpass one billion total views on the platform. Five years later, he has quadrupled that figure, underscoring the sustained international demand for his music.

Burna Boy’s latest milestone also comes amid continued expansion of Afrobeats on the global stage. His international collaborations and performances have helped position Nigerian music beyond its traditional African audience, while platforms such as YouTube have become important channels for artists to reach listeners worldwide.

The four-billion mark further places Burna Boy among Africa’s most prominent digital music acts and demonstrates the scale of the audience Nigerian artists can now command globally.

For Burna Boy, the latest record is another indication that the “African Giant” is not only competing for recognition on the international music scene but is also building a digital footprint measured in billions.
