Nigerian Actor Joseph Momodu Transitions to Military Service, Joins US Army
Nollywood actor Joseph Momodu has enlisted in the United States Army, marking a significant career shift from the film industry to military service.

The announcement was made through his social media platform, where he described the decision as both a personal milestone and a continuation of his family’s legacy of public service. He noted that his late father had served in the Nigeria Police Force, an influence that shaped his decision.
Momodu explained that the enlistment process involved weeks of intensive training, which tested his physical strength, mental resilience, and discipline. He highlighted the challenges of the programme, including long periods of isolation and demanding daily routines, but maintained that determination helped him complete the process.
He confirmed that he has successfully completed Basic Combat Training and is now serving as a Specialist in the US Army. His training took place at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri.
According to him, the timing of his enlistment was symbolic, as it coincided with the anniversary of his father’s passing, reflecting his intention to honour his memory through service.
The actor also expressed appreciation to those who supported him throughout the transition and dedicated his achievement to his family and personal beliefs.
His move has attracted public attention, with many noting the unusual transition from entertainment to military service, as well as the broader message of discipline, commitment, and personal growth it represents.
