Trump Promises $5,000 Dividend for Every Adult American If Republicans Win Congress
US President Donald Trump has promised to issue a $5,000 dividend payment to every adult citizen in the United States if the Republican Party wins control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate.
Speaking at a Republican convention in Dallas, Trump said the payment would be made because of what he described as the country’s economic strength and success. He compared the proposed payout to a company distributing dividends to its shareholders.
Trump said the only condition attached to the payment is that the money must be spent within the United States. However, he did not provide details on how the programme would be funded or implemented.
