Government Moves to Support Families of 10 Police Officers Killed in Terrorist Attack
The Kebbi State Government has pledged assistance to the families of 10 police officers killed during a gun battle with terrorists in Sakaba Local Government Area of the state.
Governor Nasir Idris made the commitment on Tuesday when a delegation representing the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, visited the Government House in Birnin Kebbi to condole with the state over the deaths. The officers were killed along the Rafin Makuku axis while supporting security operations against terrorist activities in the area.
The governor said the state would stand by the families of the fallen personnel, describing their deaths as a loss to the state and the Nigeria Police Force. The visiting delegation, led by Deputy Inspector-General of Police Umar Dada, also assured the state government that efforts were underway to track down those responsible for the attack.
Meanwhile, the police authorities disclosed plans to establish a new police squadron in Kebbi to strengthen security operations and improve the protection of communities. The additional deployment is expected to boost the response to terrorist activities, while the state government’s intervention will provide assistance to families left behind by the slain officers.
