Rescued Oyo Pupils, Teachers Receiving Treatment Ahead of Handover
The Nigerian Army has confirmed that 44 pupils and teachers recently rescued from captivity in Oyo State are currently undergoing medical care at a secure facility, with plans underway for their reunion with families.

According to military authorities, the victims—abducted in May from Oriire Local Government Area—are being attended to in an undisclosed hospital as part of post-rescue procedures. They are expected to be handed over to the Oyo State Government after the completion of necessary medical and administrative processes.
The Army disclosed that the rescue operation was the result of coordinated intelligence-driven efforts involving multiple security agencies. The mission reportedly targeted the criminal network responsible for the abduction, including their hideouts and support systems within forest areas in the state.
Security operatives from the armed forces, intelligence agencies, and other law enforcement bodies participated in the operation, alongside local security groups. Several arrests were made during the process, which authorities say disrupted the activities of the group and led to the safe release of the victims.
Officials noted that the operation was carefully executed to ensure the safety of the abducted pupils and teachers, although some casualties were recorded among security personnel.
The victims are expected to reunite with their families once all procedures are concluded.
