Trump Shares Video of Mass Burial of Victims in Nigeria, Reignites Global Concern Over Insecurity
U.S. President Donald Trump has drawn international attention after sharing a video on his Truth Social platform showing Reverend Ezekiel Dachomo of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), Plateau State, conducting a mass burial for victims of a recent violent attack.

The footage, which Trump posted, shows the cleric in visible distress as he oversees the burial of church members allegedly killed in the attack, with multiple bodies laid in a mass grave.
During the burial, Reverend Dachomo is seen making an emotional appeal for international intervention, urging global leaders, including the United Nations and the United States, to respond to what he described as continued killings of Christians in Nigeria.
In the video, he questions the religious identity of those present at the burial site and calls for urgent foreign assistance, stating that Christian communities are being targeted.
Trump’s post comes amid heightened international debate over insecurity in Nigeria, particularly following reports of a joint U.S.–Nigeria operation that allegedly killed a senior Islamic State figure and his associates in the region.
U.S. defence officials have previously defended such operations as part of ongoing efforts to target terrorist networks responsible for attacks on civilians, while reiterating commitments to counterterrorism cooperation with Nigerian authorities.
The Nigerian government has continued to reject claims of a religious genocide, maintaining that security challenges in the country are driven by multiple armed groups and criminal networks rather than religious targeting.
The latest development is expected to further intensify global scrutiny of Nigeria’s security situation and the ongoing counterinsurgency efforts in the region.
